About REVLOG

Born from a 4-Day Sprint to Solve Kenya's Battery Crisis

In late 2025, GIZ and Siemens Stiftung brought together entrepreneurs and industry experts for the Lab of Tomorrow 29 Ideation Sprint in Nairobi. The goal: build commercially viable solutions for Kenya's circular battery economy. REVLOG was one of six ventures that emerged, tackling the reverse logistics puzzle with smart bins and shared collection networks.

The Story

4 days. 6 new ventures. One massive goal.

Kenya's electric mobility adoption is accelerating, with registered EVs doubling in both 2023 and 2024. While the numbers of end-of-life EV batteries are currently low, mainly from two-wheelers, volumes will rise significantly over the next few years, surpassing 150 tonnes by 2030.

Companies in the energy and recycling space have mostly focused on reusing lithium-ion batteries from off-grid solar systems. With the growth of electric vehicles, these companies are now expanding to include repurposing, repair, remanufacturing, and developing an EV battery recycling value chain.

The Lab of Tomorrow programme identified a critical gap: there was no affordable, reliable way to collect small volumes of dead batteries from hundreds of swap stations and get them to recyclers. That is the problem REVLOG was built to solve.

Our Mission

To ensure every end-of-life EV battery in Africa is safely collected, tracked, and delivered to certified recyclers, regardless of volume or location.

Our Vision

A continent where the transition to electric mobility leaves no environmental debt behind. Every battery accounted for, every material recovered.

How It Works

Three-part model, validated and ready to pilot

01

Smart-Bins

Fire-retardant storage containers with QR identification deployed at swap stations. Secure locking, weatherproofed, easy to swap during scheduled pickups.

02

Milk Run Collection

Shared routes aggregate small volumes across multiple stations into viable loads. Dramatically lower costs compared to individual pickups.

03

Digital Tracking

Every battery tracked from deposit to recycler with blockchain-verified chain of custody. Compliance certificates generated automatically.

The Team

8 people. Zero passengers.

A diverse team across operations, business development, tech, logistics, circularity, data, fundraising, and project management.
